the hospital

Hospitals can be really scary to both patients and visitors. My dad has been in and out of this hospital countless times since 2002 when he was first diagnosed with a major illness. I’ve personally waited for him at the cancer centre, outside the operating theatre, intensive care unit and the wards, and each time you will come across patients with various illnesses. At each and every turn, you will almost definitely encounter expressions of happiness, grief and anguish. It is especially disheartening when you look at some patients, the elderly ones in particular, when they lie in bed staring blankly deep in thought. I can’t speak for the rest but I know my dad often wonders if the time has come for him to pass. is one ever ready to die? I really don’t know.

ps- thanks for the wishes.

At the hospital

We got a call from the hospital this morning at around 245am cos dad’s heartbeat was racing in the danger zone. He had fever and his blood pressure was really low. Mum and I are staying by his bedside until he fully stabilizes. hang in there, dad.
